SoHo will open at 80 S. Pauahk Street in a renovated 5,500 square-foot space that will includr a bar and an area for live The PauahiStreet location, betweem Bethel Street and Fort Street Mall and near , was occupief by Mall Cafe until April. That bar had been cites by the Honolulu Liquor Commission in recent monthds for unsanitary conditions and foroverservinhg alcohol. The commission also received a petition from community memberx opposing the renewal ofMall Cafe’s licensed because of alleged drug dealing and frequent fights. Mall Cafe’s former owner, Saiming Corp., had been tryinb to transfer its liquor license tothe landlord, Unioh Mill Investment.
SoHo owner Danie Gray, former general manage r of the Loft Galler and Lounge onHotel Street, said he was approaches by Union Mill Investment to open a new venue in the Gray plans to open part of the loungr — 3,000 square feet for this month’s First Friday event downtown, and open the remaining space in Gray describes the new venue as a mix of performances, fashion and photography in a trendy and upscalew setting. The SoHo name stems from the New York City neighborhoods and a blendof “south” and “Honolulu”.
